[Column #100] Why I Started One Via: A Sincere Vision for Global Healthcare

Hello, I am Hee-cheol Koo, the Founder & CEO of One Via.

Today, as I post this 100th column, I find myself reflecting on the journey that brought me here. Writing 100 articles in such a short span was not just about sharing information; it was about laying the foundation for a vision I have carried for a long time.

The Dream of the Podium

Actually, my original dream was to become a professor in the field of global public healthcare. I wanted to stand at a university podium and shape the future of medicine.

In 2023, that dream felt closer than ever when I was honored to be accepted into the Master's program at New York University's School of Global Public Health (NYU GPH).

However, the world changed overnight due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The unprecedented global crisis prevented me from attending NYU in person, and I had to pivot.

But the vision I developed while preparing for that program—a vision for a more transparent, ethical, and globalized healthcare system—never faded.

14 Years in the Field: From University Hospitals to Lifting Specialist

Instead of a classroom, I spent the last 14 years in the heart of the medical field. I spent a decade in a major university hospital, mastering the complexities of medical management and finance.

Later, I moved into the dynamic world of Korean plastic surgery, leading global business divisions and managing MSOs for specialized lifting clinics.

Every day, I meet international patients who travel thousands of miles to Seoul. I see their hopes, but I also see their fears.

I realized that while Korea offers world-class medical technology, the information available to foreign patients is often clouded by superficial advertisements and "hearsay."

One Via: My New Digital Podium

I realized that I didn't need a university lecture hall to be a teacher and a guide. This blog, One Via, is my new podium.

Here, I share the "raw truth" that only someone with 14 years of internal experience can know. I know which doctors truly have the "golden hands," which systems are built for patient safety, and which "bargains" are actually dangerous traps.

My mission for One Via is simple: To be the most trusted bridge between the best of Korean medicine and the patients who need it most.

Thank you for being part of this 100-column milestone. This is not the end, but the beginning of a new standard in global medical tourism. One Via will continue to protect your beauty, your health, and your right to the truth.

We don't just guide you; we protect you.
